This is a very characteristic Corsican olive oil of golden color with green hues and lime reflections. Delightfully aromatic, it offers a unique combination of aromas, notably fresh almonds and ripe fruit with accents of the maquis, native Corsican scrub - a dense, fragrant underbrush of oak, juniper, thorn, heather, and wild herbs and flowers that covers much of the island.
Labeled Fruitée Douce - "softly fruity" - it is very smooth and light, with a buttery consistency and hints of hazelnut flavors. This exquisite olive oil has earned a coveted French olive oil AOC seal - Appellation of Controlled Origin - guaranteeing its Corsican origins, natural purity, quality and adherence to a strict mode of production.

About the Producer:
Producer Anne Almaric has won numerous awards for her oil both in France and in Italy.The Domaine de Marquiliani is located on the French island of Corsica, on the plateau of Aghione at the foot of the hills of Antisanti in the central part of the island near the the eastern coast - this was once part of the Roman province of Alalia. Here, the traditional cultivation of olive trees can be traced to the second century B.C.
This extra virgin olive oil is produced from matured olives, exclusively grown within the Domaine property. It is made from a combination of ghjermana and leccio varieties, carefully handpicked in November and December and freshly cold pressed on the premises. This olive oil is naturally decanted for three months at an ideal temperature of 61° F in the caves of the Domaine de Marquiliani before bottling. Its acidity is extremely low (0.2-0.4%).
