Product Description

500 mL Tin - Corsica, France

Oru Di Balagna, a gold colored olive oil, originates from Balagne, northwestern region of the Mediterranean Island of Corsica. Produced from centuries old olive trees its past is intertwined with the history of men. Oru di Balagna has nourished and enlightened people for generations. Indeed, last year's oil received a Gold Medal in the olive oil competition in Nice, France.

The olive trees - which did not know the freezing that struck the South of France killing many of the trees in 1956 - are giant and splendid. In Corsica, harvests are based on the normal rate/rhythm of the olive-tree, namely every two years. The period of harvest extends from at the beginning of December, with the pickled olives and until the end of May for Sabines.

This oil is cold pressed mechanically from the Sabine olive variety, prized since antiquity and exclusively harvested in Balagne for the Co-operative's mill, Mulinu di Pratu. The superior quality, genuine origin and delicious taste of Oru di Balagna olive oil are certified by a coveted French AOC label-appellation of controlled origin.

Green-gold Oru di Balagna is a 100% natural French olive oil with a nose full of ripe and green fruit and hints of nuttiness. It is buttery sweet, herbal, fruity with a hint of pepper on the finish - very mild due to a very low acidity. You will appreciate its unctuous texture and fruity aromas with herbal accents on grilled fish, salad and pasta, with cheese or on a simple piece of bread.
